Almost Time...

In just over 2 weeks i will be back in Derdy studying. I am currently working my ass off to try get some pieces of work that i can display in a portfolio. Im going to a game convention in October where i can try get a year placement, currently at the rate im going at, this is looking highly unlikely. Fingers crossed that i can actually get something done. On a side note....i turned 21 today. Hurray :)

Really though, i remember writing that acceptance post, and being all excited about going to uni, and now its well more than a year, im almost finished my first year in uni, now that im used to Maya abit i think my modelling has came on quite abit to be honest and i should have some work from this semester posted up at some point. Uni is insane though, its just ram loads of work, it would be less if i stopped making things that are abit beyond what the brief actually looks for, but where is the challenge in that right? Anywhoos, hoping to get some stuff up soon so yeah :)

I got accepted into Derby University which is like the highlight of my month so far hah :D. I have started texturing the buildings i had made previously so hopefully tomorrow (technically later today) I'll have one of them uploaded. I got an awesome brush set from Pfefferminzchen (https://www.deviantart.com/pfefferminzchen), they have a shed load of brush's on there page so check it out.

No trouble at all, it's a nice little photo.
Thanks for the watch :D :D
Well at the moment I've just been working on mostly flash animation design and mostly concept ideas. I've turned my attention to game designs as I'm in Finland and almost its the only apart I can get work in. The one thing I've been working on is the 3D model off that Icebreaker which I did in Uni. I'm working on some 3D background designs using Maya I'll soon put on here. I'm taking my time on cause I've a lot to learn still on Maya that's why I took some interest looking at your works on here. I would like to do more background and props stuff like that. The University I went to well its only good for one thing they have most of the programmes to use there. But their Maya is an old version. The biggest problem with this University is the tutors are so out of touch with the students. So your often find your self in blind spots not knowing much. I had to teach my self half of the time I was there. Their not good at given advice to where you go after University. As for my animation I have one walk cycle done on Flash and I have my final Film project which is a mix of mostly Flash, Corel Painter 11, and Maya. I've this on youtube not my best works as it was my first time using these programmes. I may go back to fix it that some point it was a big project that drove my insane for a year. There's two others I have studied with their on DA to. Their's names are ~Ayumi-Shade
~MatthiusMonkey two every talented friends of mine
there's also ~Jayextee and ~Djangoh who you should also take a look at as he's on the game design course in the Uni I was in. He's working on a few Maya characters pretty good stuff there to.

Hey i liked the animation, far beyond anything i could ever hope to do in flash and the like.

Is it game animation you are looking to get into aswell as game design or is it just animation in general?

There alot of kind of nice little recources on the internet tutorial wise that should kind of help you along with modelling while you are learning, it is always really helpful though to have people around you who know the programme, so if you do know anyone who is decent at maya or some other 3d programme maybe have a sit down with them at some point.

like check out the polycount forum, its a scary place to go on to and post your work, but there are alot of people posting up tutorials and breakdowns of 3d work flow that might be of use to you.

If you are just trying to get your teeth into the 3D stuff aswell i would probably recommend working on small props and objects then working your way up to bigger things and just get used to the process of modelling, uving, texturing.

I'm sticking to my small time props and stuff at the moment just because my workflow isnt totally down yet.

But yeah i dont know if any of that has been of use to you or if i just rambled on there.
Well I think my interests are gone in the game design area of things. Its what my worked on for my dissertation but I can still touch on animation, but I feel when it comes to game designing there's lots more interesting ideas and story lines to come up with. I took one assignment from the games course at my Uni, and I found it was much more interesting then what I was getting on the animation course. I have some tutorial for Maya but I'll take a look that polycount forum. Sorry for the late reply I'm a bit busy most of the time these days : D
